Rare Earth

A cosmology rendered in metal. The series takes its names from the planets and the ancient names we gave them, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and sees them the way the ancients once did, looking up and finding gods in the night sky. Each piece is forged from the elements of the earth itself: steel, copper, bronze, brass, and stone. There is something fitting in that contradiction. The materials are pulled from the ground, heavy and earthbound, yet they are shaped into the figures we once placed highest above us. What was dug from the earth becomes the heavens. The gods we imagined in the sky return to us as something we can hold.
