The Alpaca Project

Gold Alpacas, a commission for AlpaSuri, a German alpaca farm run by Barbara Bruns and Wolfgang Stamp. They breed white huacayas for the finest, purest fleece in the luxury sector, with animals that have taken prizes at international shows. The goal, in their words, is a “fleece of the gods.” The gold alpaca answers that in kind, the animal itself cast as something precious.

The form is reduced to its essentials. A rounded body, a neck of stacked soft volumes, full legs planted square. A set of gold-plated sculptures six inches tall, with matching pendants in the same shape, scaled down to wear close to the body.
